Soundtrack for a Generation

it's may already?!

the rest of my spring break was pretty lame. other than going to that concert and going to foxwoods with my parents, i didn't really do anything. when i came back to school, it was student council week, which makes things a little more exciting. this week i got out at 11:30 on wednesday because of prom that night and had no school on thursday. i didn't go to prom because i knew i  wouldn't enjoy it since i don't really dance and don't know any guys i could ask to be my date. it was also really expensive...but i heard it was really good. i instead spent the whole day with kristen and drove around. that afternoon we ate lunch at arby's, went to the park, and played tennis (my first time besides school). amanpreet came over for a few hours, and we watched yes man, which was really funny. the rest of the night we did stuff like watched tv, played with our guitars, went on the computer, and played guitar hero. we went to sleep after 4. yesterday (friday) night jane picked me up and we went to christine's house. we watched forgetting sarah marshall and got some ice cream. today (saturday) i went to the mall with mom and bought this cool picture frame collage at fortunoff, a swimsuit, shorts, and skinny jeans (which are way too skinny).

now that may is here, i'm really looking forward to the end of the month, my birthday, and graduation!

i'm kind of wishing i had gone/will go to bamboozle...and i'm still considering whether i should drive two hours tomorrow (monday) afternoon/night to see versaemerge by myself.

concert.

spring break started off pretty exciting. tuesday was my last day of school. after piano was over at 4:30, i went straight to the train station and left for new york. i went to a concert at the highline ballroom, all by myself. it was about a mile's walk from penn station. craig owens was the main act, but i didn't stay long enough to see him. there was also the color fred, versaemerge (my main reason for going), and the constant. i got there right at around 6:30, when the show was supposed to start, but it ended up starting later. i walked in and stood around for a few minutes, then decided to go out and look at the merch. i went up to the versaemerge merch table, looked at the stuff, turned around, and noticed that sierra, the lead singer of versaemerge, was right there. there were 2 or 3 girls who asked her to sign stuff and were talking to her, so i decided to wait in the small area of space i had until they were done. i meant to ask her to sign my ep and take a picture with her, but when i turned around again, she was gone. i was kinda upset, but at least i got to see her. their set was amazing. even though i know most of their lyrics and all, i just stood around, took pictures and video (like i normally do at concerts). i had a great time during those 25-30 minutes or so; i probably would have had a better time if i went with someone else. they played theatrics, the hider, the authors, past praying for, clocks, moments between sleep, and whisperer. the constant was good, even though they played before ve, it seemed like they played a lot more songs. i also caught like 2 or 3 of the color fred's songs. i left with a craig owens poster which i bought for $1, and a versaemerge poster which i got for free since i only had a $20, and they had no singles...ve is playing at the bamboozle, but they also have a show the day after, on may 4, with conditions and there for tomorrow. it's in vineland though, and on a monday night. i'm considering driving 2 hours to see them again. this show would probably be even smaller than the one i went to.

i've been thinking about going to the bamboozle this year. if i go, i'd definitely go on sunday since a couple of my favorite bands will be there, like the ataris and versaemerge. i'd rather go on saturday, but i only really like the cab out of all the other bands that day. or i might go to the hoodwink festival which is that friday, where a bunch of bands do cover songs. if i go to that, i'd be able to see the ataris and the cab, and it would be a lot cheaper ($27 instead of $57).
